Then I glance at the clock on her nightstand and see that we’ve been asleep for over nine hours. A smile of contentment creeps across my face. After all that agitation yesterday, where I couldn’t fucking fall asleep no matter how hard I tried, this night of good sleep is a welcome gift.

I slept better with her than I can remember and it might be the best sleep of my life—including my time spent as a human. Also including my time with my former fiancée.

Lucy easily slid into this too-small bed with me with zero fear, as if I were a normal human man. She saw all of me, including exactly how my legs curve into hooves and wasn’t turned off. I could scent her arousal as I held her in my arms and yet somehow, I managed to not bury my tongue in her mouth or in the slit between her thighs. The Minotaur wants her with an urgent primal need, but I kept my hands to myself, just as promised. She allowed me to instead bury my nose in the waves of her long blonde hair. And we were soon asleep.

Once in the kitchen I put on my shirt and jeans, then grab my jacket which is still in the living room. I pause to leave a note for her on the kitchen table because I'm grateful she allowed me to sleep next to her last night. And I give her my cell phone number. Very few people, or monsters, have my private phone number.

The back door would be the best way to exit but I don’t want to wake her by reentering the bedroom so I go out the front. Her sash is still in my pocket, giving me that reminder of her scent.
